Micky Khanna is joining the senior management team at Optimus Performance Marketing as Sales Director to lead its aggressive new business strategy.
Khanna has over nine years of online marketing experience, most recently as Head of Affiliate Sales at buy.at where he and his team brought in almost £6m in new business revenue when the company was fully integrated into AOL’s Platform-A business. His team were also instrumental in winning a number of of the UK’s leading brands such as Talk Talk, Virgin Money, and HBOS, plus the consolidation of accounts including 02 and Orange.
Mark Russell, Managing Director of Optimus Performance Marketing, says: “Micky certainly knows the market and the market knows him. Following Malcolm Cowley’s recent commitment to help us move into our next stage of growth, we’re delighted to have been able to attract yet another similarly connected and experienced Affiliate champion. This is another sharp signal to the market of our intentions as we build and grow our relationships with Advertisers, Networks and Agencies.”
Prior to buy.at, Micky was part of the launch team behind the Daily Mail’s londonjobs.co.uk recruitment site, before joining the UK’s first pay-per-click network, Espotting Media, where he quickly established himself through the ranks and managed strategic accounts for the likes of Ebay, The Search Works, Steak Media, and Group M.
Micky says: “Having known Mark and the team for over three years, and worked with them during my time at buy.at, it’s fair to say that Optimus are not only held in high regard by Affiliates, Merchants and Networks, but are also set to increase their slice of the Affiliate Marketing pie considerably. I’m looking forward to helping take the business to the next level.”

This year the Optimus Performance Marketing crew set off to Expo with a new look and mindset.
Professionalism has been the name of the game for us in the past year, maintaining and growing the client base against an economy that has challenged many of their offline activities and thrown the costs and challenges of affiliate marketing into the spotlight. We came to expo looking to build on these experiences as well as reinforce our industry relationships and once again we came away with the feeling that it had been another great event.

Whilst Bruce and Hannah manned the stand I deliberately used the event to have meetings with key network and publishers as well as new business conversations, taking advantage of the opportunity to have less hurried conversations. The stand itself was an all new look for us, bringing a more polished and coordinated look to the EAM proposition and seemed genuinely well received by all, and didn’t deter too many of our industry friends from taking time out on our nice comfy seats as per usual!
While many of the faces were familiar the conversations were different, everyone from every side of the industry seems to have embraced change and grown stronger, bringing concrete plans and new demands on our clients and ourselves as a company. While this is very welcome extra work it is the most positive illustration of how an industry is taking the affiliate model into the mainstream of the online marketing mix. Similarly it was great to speak to all the new faces and their affiliate models all of whom seem destined to become regular fixtures on the scene.
On a personal level, both myself and the team had a great time at the social events, the last night in particular proving to be a gathering in the old school style.
I would like to thank everyone who visited our stand during expo, i would also like to thank Matt and the team at a4u for organising a great event.
Looking forward to seeing you all next year!
