Gemma open borders open hearts

Open Hearts Open Borders is a local group of humanitarians, and part of a wider group across the South West working to provide immediate and continuing aid to those fleeing conflict in their home nation. The group’s objectives are to not only provide aid and awareness to those in desperate need right now but also to work with the community and local businesses to provide sustained support throughout ongoing conflict.

Having heard about an appeal for warm clothes and basic essentials through social media, Optimus Performance Marketing charity champions stepped into action and started a collection of items they could send to Calais to help. The whole team gave so generously by donating clothes, boots, toiletries, towels and bedding to the appeal.

Their next aid package will be going directly to help those in Syria. For this vital appeal, there are specific items you can donate to help including baby essentials, first aid kits, foil blankets, socks, underwear, blankets and winter coats.

Gemma Robinson, an account manager at Optimus said: “We have all been utterly shocked at the images of both the migrant crisis and the suffering in Syria. Our initial collection was the least we can do to support this fantastic group and we will continue to work with Open Hearts Open Borders in any ways we can.”

Faraday Fearnside from Open Hearts Open Borders said: “People in Plymouth have been warm-hearted and very generous in their response to the refugee crisis I, and so many people have given their spare time, money, and other donations to help. Our next campaign will be sending aid to Syria, details will be posted on the Facebook page and being sent out to all the donations points. Any help and support are gratefully received.”
